Powerhouse Gym, 2460 F Road, is now open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. The new hours began Oct. 22.

“Convenience” prompted the change, gym co-owner Norrie Derner said. “We had a lot of members wanting to come in earlier or come in later,” she said.

The gym is staffed from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. At night, the gym has a security system, and crews clean the gym twice between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m.

Jo’s Clothes has opened at 251 Colorado Ave. The clothing consignment store is open from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

La Louisiane Cajun Seafood restaurant, 359 Colorado Ave., has closed. The business organized in February and dissolved in October, according to Colorado Secretary of State’s Office records. The location was home to The Cavett House Grille & Pub from February 2007 through July 2008.

Watercolor Dogs Youth Art Studio is opening at 145 N. Mesa St. in Fruita. The studio is owned by professional watercolor artist Pam McLaughlin and will offer fine-art instruction for people age 3 through adult. Classes are available in drawing, watercolor, pastel, manga, jewelry, metal embossing and other subjects.

Nurse’s Uniforms and Shoes, 441 Colorado Ave., has closed. It will be replaced by Autopay Checks Inc. Payroll Solutions.

Autopay is currently located at 2456 Industrial Blvd. Autopay has operated in Grand Junction since 2003 and manages payroll and human resources operations for businesses.

Lakeside Salon owner Lynn Lard will host a fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the salon, 3154 Lakeside Drive, Unit 105. Stylists Shelley Lewis and Dani Wright will offer haircuts for $16, and Kristie Browne will offer manicures for $16.

All proceeds will help seventh- and eighth-graders at Lutheran Church and School of Messiah pay for a class trip to Zion National Park in Utah.

Western Slope Toastmasters chapters named Laura Goldie of Grand Junction the Toastmaster of the Year for 2008-09 on Oct. 21. Toastmasters meets once a week and helps people deliver speeches in group settings so they gain confidence in public speaking. Goldie won the award because of her outstanding speaking and presentation skills.

Flowers by Lorraine, formerly at First Street and Orchard Avenue, has moved to 120 W. Park Drive, suite 112, in the Corner Square development at First Street and Patterson Road. The flower shop is in a building on the east end of the development and faces First Street.

Himalayan Healers, P.O. Box 3465, wants to begin partnerships with at least 20 businesses, including yoga centers, spas, massage therapists, coffee shops, health professionals and teachers, nationwide by next year. Anyone interested in participating can e-mail himalayanhealers@yahoo.com.

Partner businesses will receive 30 to 40 free Himalayan Healers fundraising packages, which contain silk scarves, silk purses stuffed with loose-leaf Nepali tea, and information on Himalayan Healers’ work in Nepal. Himalayan Healers Founder Rob Buckley said he hopes partner businesses will package one of their services with the fundraising packages, which will be sold to raise money for Himalayan Healers.
