June 2008

And then there were three

Finally, Jen’s goose has been cooked.

In the only reality television show left worth watching, Hell’s Kitchen on Fox has once again delivered another drama-filled season. Last year, Rock took pinnacle honors and is now the executive chef for Chef Gordon Ramsay at one of his many five-star restaurants.

This season has topped last year by a mile simply because of the drama, kitchen nosedives and catfights between these cooking hopefuls who are vying for prominence into culinary greatness. But, for the love of chicken noodle soup, Jen lasted far too long in a competition designed for inspiring chefs. If this had been a contest for the worst team player with the worst attitude and the worst sense of reality, she would have won hands down.

From Day 1, she showed her true colors, which were mostly highlighted by her terrible and crybaby attitude, which got her nowhere fast on the popularity contest in the kitchen. Her biggest problem was eventually her downfall - she sucked when it came to taking criticism and being a team player.

She’s been on the chopping block several times this season and I was certain she was gone last week, but, like American Idol wannabe Kirsty Lee Cook, Jen somehow avoided another chop. Finally, however, she wore out her welcome and was kicked off the show Tuesday night.

And then there were three: Pertrozza, Corey and Christina. I in no way thought Pertrozza would make it this far, but he now has my vote.

My niece, Emma Drew, celebrated her first birthday recently. Obliviously, she had a blast.
