For heaven’s sake, let these people have their b&b. Haven’t you all noticed the numerous “for sale” signs along 7th street? What is this? An enclave for the rich and famous? It isn’t. You all are a stones throw from our “world famous” downtown shopping park. We are not talking a Hooter’s here.

For heaven’s sake! The issue here is that the City Attorney, John Shaver, has allowed the city planning department to rezone this area with out the issue going to City Council. According to the city’s own code ONLY the City Council can make a zone change. The residents of the city need realize that Shaver has given the planning department the power to cut city council out of the process and in doing this any zoning can be changed without due process for those who live in area to voice their opinion. The rights of the citizens in the City of Grand Junction are being taken away.

While the B&B probably won’t bring in a lot of people the rezoning will open up the area for more business and that will be a problem for those living in the historical area on Seventh. Once those doors are opened it will be impossible to reverse. I don’t think the re-zoning is a good idea and certainly not in the way that it is being done. Why are their codes and regulations if they can be surpassed whenever convenient. If they can just decide to change these codes, than why can’t Mesa County make a change of the code for the Rock Man? Now that would be a ‘good’ change.

I walked by the proposed b&b a couple weeks ago when I had the misfortune of being trapped in Grand Junction for an unwanted visit. Cannot understand what everyone is so upset about. If anything, it would be an asset to the community. After having to live in GJ for 6 miserable years and fleeing to a nicer part of the country, I am convinced that a majority of citizens in GJ are absolutely unwilling to see the forest thru the trees. I’m sure these are the same folks that complain bitterly about who visits the downtown farmers market as well. I think these attitudes are inbred throughout generations and I wish the fine people who want to make a go of this succeed with all their endevors. GJ will never embrace small changes, they just let developers tell them what to do. Forget the small business owner, it’s too easy to pick on the little guys.

We wish you really were ‘outtahere’ outtathere, What an unhappy bitter person you must be - never have anything good to say and you obviously hate it here so why don’t you just go away. We KNOW you don’t like GJ, we KNOW you used to hate living here. You certainly use every occasion to remind us. Now you don’t live here, so don’t care what you think. Move on. . Buh-bye
