No no no. Fix the misspent Viagra, power chair problems FIRST. Fix the rural reimbursement problems, the malpractice insurance problems. Fix the waste, abuse and fraud that’s already in place. We will not allow the Federal Government to take over this enormous percentage of our economy. This is being stuffed down our throats. There are much simpler ways to solve insurance problems. Repeal the anti-trust exemption first. Our economy will not begin to recover until this is trashed. The climate change aspirations of government are the other reason no one can hire. The government thinks they can change the climate, hahahahah. How absolutely vainglorious! Democrats are finished if this stuff goes through.

Mr. Salazar - May I recommend some quality moving companies? You have just sealed your fate in 010. THe odds of you returning to DC are slim and none and slim just left town.

Why didn’t hold to fix Medicaid, that seems like the “stupidist, silliest thing” to me. We don’t have to reinvent the wheel here and we certainly don’t need the federal government leading the way on a private sector issue.

Mr. Salazar-

You supporting this massive expansion of the Government, taking away my precious freedoms even more, I’ll expend every ounce of my soul to make sure your “career” in politics is ended as quickly as possible.

You sir, are contributing to generational theft and the destruction of this country.

I think Salazar is LYING! Read the following about abortion copied from a recent news article I found by a simple GOOGLE,

“Today we see yet another phony amendment designed to subsidize and expand the abortion industry cloaked in deceptive language,” Smith said following the introduction of the Ellsworth amendment.

“Under the new arrangement, instead of an HHS employee issuing blood money checks for elective abortions, HHS will pay a contractor to issue checks for abortion on demand,” Smith explained. “It is a distinction without a difference. The public should not be fooled nor should any pro-life Democrat.”

In the Ellsworth plan, the government-run public health insurance option would still cover abortion, but would have to contract with private contractors to carry out the administrative functions related to paying for elective abortion.

Congressional pro-life leaders insisted that only Stupak and Pitts’ Hyde language would suffice to end the bill’s threat.

“If they truly want to keep abortion out of the health care bill, they must accept the Stupak-Pitts amendment, that says clearly and plainly that there can be no funding for abortion and no government subsidies for plans that cover abortion,” said Smith. Pro-life Republican Rep. Joseph Pitts of Pennsylvania called Ellsworth’s amendment a “sham.”

National Right to Life Committee Legislative Director Douglas Johnson said that, “The pro-abortion House Democratic leadership is using Ellworth’s phony language to undercut the real pro-life amendment [from Stupak].

“The Ellsworth language is the legislative equivalent of putting pancake makeup on a cancer, rather than performing lifesaving surgery.”“.

The Dems rejected all efforts to place an amendment into the bill that would have prohibited funds being used for abortion. Simple, to the point, needed. Instead they continue to use smoke to cover their lies. Abortion will be paid for by contractors who issue checks for services, that is the truth SALAZAR, stop lying.

I promise to do everything I can to get you out of office, I dedicate my life the same as patriots in the past have done to defeat tyrants.

Thomas Jefferson said, “God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. … And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.”

That is what your mouth is full of sir, manure.

“Had the Blue Dog Coalition not taken the position it did, the legislative process would have moved far more quickly, and the bill would have passed in August, he said.” NO, if the blue dogs had just represented their own people the bill would have been dead and buried by now and the economy would be recovering. Just try doing your job for your own district instead of swooning over the celebrity in office.

It is immoral that 45 million americans do not have health care. I am glad to Mr Salazar doing the right thing not the easy thing. The embarassment is that so many in this valley care little for their neighbors.

Thanks for your hard work on behalf of the middle class, and despite the propaganda of corporate interests who see their profits coming into line with their service. It is a moral imperative to address the 6,000 lives that are lost every day simple because these individuals do not have access to health care. For all those posts that are negative I suggest they watch Sick around the World, a documentary by TR Reid for a more balanced perspective of what our elected officials are trying to obtain. You are brave and thoughtful, exactly what we need in public service.

Thanks, congressman! I don’t have health insurance, haven’t been sick in years, and the ins. companies still want almost ten grand a year if I were going to get a policy! Want to talk about passing the buck! We need a public option if we’re going to survive as a country. Good work, Mr. Salazar, you have my vote.

Congressman Salazar is supporting a bill that will imprison people for 5 YEARS and FINE THEM $250,000 for not buying health insurance. According to the JCT—in a letter sent out yesterday. John, John, John … Or should we call you Ivan, Ivan Ivan—you work for us. We DO NOT WANT THIS BILL! If you support this bill, you will be removed from office in 2010. And good riddance.

Good on Salazar From WSJ “On Nov. 2, the Congressional Budget Office estimated what the plans will likely cost. An individual earning $44,000 before taxes who purchases his own insurance will have to pay a $5,300 premium and an estimated $2,000 in out-of-pocket expenses, for a total of $7,300 a year, which is 17% of his pre-tax income. A family earning $102,100 a year before taxes will have to pay a $15,000 premium plus an estimated $5,300 out-of-pocket, for a $20,300 total, or 20% of its pre-tax income. Individuals and families earning less than these amounts will be eligible for subsidies paid directly to their insurer.” Is this your idea of a plan that you can afford or go to jail????

I believe it will take a revolution to change the mess we’re in now. We need to stand up as patriots, not bow down. Those who drink the “O-flavored Koolaid” cannot be allowed to control our government any longer and Americans who make statements like “45 million uninsured Americans” need to become educated…not simply rely on some liberal agenda (even the Anointed One has retracted that one). Wake up!! This is not about health care or helping your neighbor or doing what’s good for America…it’s another power grab. It is a method by which they grab more money from people who work so that the government can become more powerful by getting votes from those who don’t work.

John Salazar is lying when he states that this healthcare bill will be the same thing Congress gets. He is firmly in the pocket of Obama and Pelosi, and will do their bidding, no matter what his constituents think. Read the post by “claire”. It’s pretty clear what will happen to healthcare costs if the government steps in, not to mention the fines associated with refusing their plan. If this were something clearly in the interest of Americans, they would take time to explain it and get our support. They know we won’t support it once we take a good look at it, thus the need to cram it through.

KEEP IT UP JOHN, are you trying to convince us or your self. You have heard from the voters and they are overwhelmingly against this bill. You can sugar coat dog crap, but it doesn’t make it taste any better. Next election the negative adds will simply state you supported healthcare reform in contrast to the voters you represented. YOU WON”T HAVE A CHANCE. Know that you are voting yourself out of office. Just don’t be surprised when it happens.

don’t you yay-sayers see what is happening here? this isn’t about the good of the people, this is about taking over!! if it weren’t, the government would be trying to solve this problem through the free market, not making it so the free market can’t compete with it. blind sheep that’s what you are. you’ll see somewhere down the road if this gets passed. only thing is…by that time it will be too late.

Wonder how many of us they can put in jail when we don’t buy into their socialized medicine? I for one will not buy it and if enough of us don’t, they will have to find the money to build new prisons. They can fine me $2 million - can’t get blood out of a turnip. They won’t even look at the bill proposed by the Republicans that would only cost $62 billion over 10 years, according to the CBO instead of the $1.2 trillion that Obamacare will cost. This is not about medical care or insurance reform. They have taken over the auto industry, the banks, the investments firms, the student loan program and this is the last nail in the coffin where they are burying freedom. Hello comrades! Welcome to United Socialist States of America.

THANK you, Rep. Salazar. The middle class desperately needs real health insurance reform, and the sooner the better. If we can’t get single-payer right now, then we desperately need a public option. We can not possibly continue afford such high premiums for such minimal coverage! Thank you, thank you, thank you.

By Salazar-- NO THANK YOU

November 7, 2009 10:54 AM | Link to this

To all of you who helped get Salazar in, thank you for screwing my kids futures. For all of those who voted for him and now want to take it back— sorry “a little to late to do the right thing now” To all of you who are for this bill thank you for taking my money to murder a baby in the womb. To all of those ,like me, who believe that this country is supposed to be a DEMOCRACY and not SOCIALIST country, please know that I shed the same tears, hold the same anger and plan to fight schmucks like Salazar and all of those who believe in him.

I just pray the bill is squashed.

Oh and one more thing, That “O-tasting Koolaid” Go ahead and flush it down the toilet cause the Big “O” (which used to mean pleasure) is flushing our country down the drain!

It’s a sad day when we have a low-life congressman that cares more about Nancy Pelosi than he does the 3rd congressional district. Of course, he has enough money to stay “elected” and continue to hide from his constituents. And, with his vote in favor of this socialistic bill, he’ll continue to get “paid” a lot for his vote. His head is too big to care what any of us think anymore.

Salazar does not even respond to questions and comments about his approval of this bill. It is a joke. THINK before you blindly accept how the Democrats will pay for this. NONE of their numbers add up. What a joke we have for a congressman.

“Done” is most definetly right! Venting here at the Daily Sentinel is good but all of you need to contact Salazar! It’s very easy, go to his website, click contact, put in your zip code, fill out a few fields and then place your comment in the proper box and click submit! Email him every day. Email him multiple times. If you feel like he’s ignoring you, (which he is), email him again. A group of us have been doing just that and I think that’s why he did this interview with the Sentinel even though his statements left me still empty. You can tell in the story reported that he knows he’s doing to wrong thing. It only takes a second or two to contact these idiots! True Americans must stand up against all of these attempts at making this a communist nation! Email him! DO IT!!

By Greg

November 7, 2009 1:58 PM | Link to this

Sorry O Trash, e-mails don’t work. They just delete them. Calls or faxes are the way to go. The comments here are humorous. You people think you can change things. What was the disapproval for the banker bailout? 99%?

This is about control. If you think Salazar cares you are wrong. He is looking foward to being voted out. He will get a nice six figure pension from us and another six-figure wall street job.

Wake up.

This is horrible that he supports this 2000 page bill that he admits his staff has gone thru- did he? Can he explain to the elderly how this is going to affect them with the 500 billion in Medicare cuts? Can he explain that this will cost over 1 TRILLION dollars and we all know that the government never estimates correctly. Can he explain that Congress is not being forced into this plan. Also this was written yesterday and this is what is the NEWS today. He is lying about abortion. I can only hope he gets voted out in 2010. Today news: Obama made his trip to the Capitol complex as abortion rights lawmakers voiced anger at a last-minute concession granted to foes of the procedure, who were given a vote on their proposal for stronger restrictions on abortion coverage.

Thank you Rep Salazar, and yes, we NEED the public option. For all those who call it “Obamacare”, would you do away with Social Security? Would you do away with “Medicare”? These are federal programs that provide health care (and income) to millions. It is the insurance companies who have profited. Yet you “Uneducated”,(uneducated = ignorant of the facts”) continue to make things up, like this plan will kill babies, or, it is “socialism”. The ignorance of the public has no boundry, please look up the House proposal and quote what you do not like about it. Really, read the proposed law, then quote it, and tell us what you do not like. Please stop puking up what “Rush Limbaugh” has to say, he is one of Americas all time “Hippocrates”. Yuk!

I don’t need a t.v. commentator or a radio head to tell me what to believe. I have always been able to read and think for myself. However, I have been watching CSPAN today, and it is deplorable what Pelosi and her “Possi” are about to do to this country. Shame on her, and shame on John Salazar for following her down this universal/social health care yellow brick road. There’s obviously no stopping them now.

I hope alot of people in Mesa County will understand now what a joke Salazar is. He is not only a liar when he says this bill will qualify Americans to get the same health-care that members of Congress gets, but the fact that he never ONCE, came to Grand Junction to talk and look his constituents in the face. His speech tonight at the vote tells me he is so interested in the “rural” aspects of Colorado, but this bill will not help them. He is a liar and a coward. I have been e-mailing him and phoning his office almost daily since the beginning of Aug. to no avail. I urge everyone in this state and country to start reading and learn how our rights are being taken away little by little. And to the the person who asked would I take away Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. Yes, yes, yes. Those benefits have been so abused and is bankrupting this country as well. All of government needs a good overhaul. These people are corrupt and all they care about is their own personal gains and believe me they are all very wealthy from our tax dollars. Get your heads out of the sand. Start reading and doing research about what is really going on in our country. WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!!

Hey By Educated What about the 500 billion that is being cut to Medicare to pay for this piece of garbage that passed. Do you realize that Medicare is broke, Social Security is broke, the Post office is broke, the list goes on and on for every government run program. Medicare alone has 38 TRILLION in promised benefits that it has no money to pay for. So when you are ready to get your Medicare it might not be there. Also did you know that insurance companies rate number 35 in the profit list so they average 3-5% growth per year. My company would go under if we had that poor growth record. Did you know the bill has over 1/2 TRILLION in taxes which includes taxes on small business? Did you know that this bill will be a 5th of our economy? The list goes on. Did you know also the bill taxes medical devices makers so that cost will be passed on to you since they are exempt from taxes. . The reason people are calling this Socialism is because the government has recently taken over car companies, banks, and now are healthcare and people don’t want it!

DEAR COMRADE SLEAZYCZAR Please enlighten us to the specific constitutional authority that permits the federal government to force people to purchase ANYTHING? And then fine them when they don’t. Didn’t think you had the answer since there is not one, which subsequently makes you a traitor… in the full legal and constitutional meaning of that term. Oh and I’m sure you fully supported representative Coffman’s amendment to force ALL federal slugs err employees, to join the public option.
