A difference between boys and girls

I was smacked with some sort of hideous stomach thing that sent me home from work early Friday and kept me down for most of the weekend. Some friends had been sick with e.Coli earlier in the week. It felt like I had f.Coli. Just awful.

At one point Saturday, Margaret set up her doll house (actually, it’s a bunny house in that the family is not people, but bunnies, which goes along with her love of all things animal). She intended on coming back to the doll house so she left it set up in the living room.

Later that day, our neighbors’ little guy came over to play with Margaret which was the bright spot in my otherwise dim weekend.

Margaret loves playing with 2-1/2-year-old Jordan and the two get along famously. They giggle so much together … it’s definitely the best medicine.

He carefully picked up each piece and moved the bunny dolls around in the house. With his dad was right there, Jordan never needed to be reminded to be careful with the pieces as he played sweetly with the toys.

Then he started to rearrange the furniture.

After about 20 minutes, he had rearranged the furniture to a configuration more to his liking. Boy, was he proud of himself. Look at how convenient it all is:

yeah, Jordan is a little boy! i think that i did something similar to my sister’s dollhouse when i was closer to his age. but, she got even….she took my baseball shoes and i had to play the better part of a game in my socks, until my Mom came to watch the game after work.

has Margaret decided on any plan of action for revenge yet?

Being that Margaret is part tom boy and that she loves Jordan, she didn’t care at all.

Classic, just classic. And really so much more practical. I love that boys and girls are just inherently different like this.

Yeah, all the ladies think this is really cute (which it is). What is not said it that when we are old, we really are still very little boys (and the ladies will agree with this, too). BUT, it isn’t so cute anymore when we actually try to implement Jordan’s planning principles in an actual full-sized house. At that point, cuteness accedes to the final reality that women, being inherently smarter and more organized than males and ulitimately having all the control they choose to exercise, reject all adult male efforts to decorate in the more ‘practical’ way that Jordon showed! Gotta love it.

Dan, That’s what garages are for. Just one room to stuff as much miscellaneous junk into. Funny that’s often the place men find most comfortable? Must be innate!

Richie, Richie, Richie! Please don’t blow our cover by admitting the garage is for junk storage. Really it’s the prime real estate in the house that men get for the express and very special purpose of storing their most prized and valuable posessions. Don’t mess with the man cave!

Oops sorry! I think that is exactly what Jordan was doing with his furniture rearranging, he was creating a man cave!

That’s my kid! He’s learning about the Man Cave from his Dear Old Dad.

When Jordan joined the preschool he was a very shy, not outgoing and didn’t talk too much. Now Jordan has bloomed into an outgoing, smart, verbal little boy! He is a sweetheart and joy to have around!! We miss you Jordan!!

We are Jordan’s cousins in Michigan—we heard he has become famous for his re-decorating skills. We are so proud!! We miss him very, very much! Jack and Aly Miller
