Mission Accomplished
Let me first say that I am looking forward to the day when I regain full function of my body from the waist down.
I’m thinking that’s not going to happen today, and maybe not even tomorrow. If anyone has a walker they’re not using, I’d be happy to rent it.
Honestly, I’m still floating around in this sea of “I did it, I really did it!” and “I should have/could have/would have done better.” Those are my issues. I’ll spare you from them here.
When all is said and done, I’m one of only 165 people in the whole galaxy who were fortunate enough to run 22.6 miles up and over the Colorado National Monument. I set my own record. My goals were to finish under my own power, finish within the allotted 5 hour time limit and not be last. I accomplished all of that, albeit barely!
The rest of the story is more complicated than that, of course, because being a woman, it has to be. But I’ll give you all the glorious and gory details at a later date.
Right now, I want to thank everybody who offered me their support, congratulations, best wishes, love and concern. There are so many of you out there, and I have no words to tell you how gratifying and soul-satisfying it was to know all of that was out there for me.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, and my aching feet, for being there with me, and for me, along the way!

Whoever said it was lonely at the top wasn’t kidding!

My dad, looking pretty good at the finish!

Lynn - Congratulations! I read about you in the paper today and noted your comments about your bathroom counters.
As a natural health practitioner, I would highly recommend that you not use products like Tiger balm when using homeopathic products like Arnica. Unfortunately Tiger balm (menthol type products) can make the homeopathy useless. (Coffee intake can also make them ineffective.)
Instead, you can use a homeopathic cream like Traumeel that is great for your joints and muscles and won’t interfere with the wonderful Arnica.
An Epson salt bath and a glass of wine would be great too! ;o)

Thanks everyone for your comments! Christine - that is great info to have and share. I had no idea. I guess I can cut back on coffee as long as I can still enjoy my wine!
