You’re getting sleepy
… Very sleepy.
Ah, you looked into the dark and mysterious kitty’s eyes. Don’t look in her eyes. Who knows what will happen now.

Nyssa is actually not a scary cat at all. She’s just camera shy. But you wouldn’t know it by looking at this photo.
Thanks for the picture, Cassie of Palisade.

Why’d the chicken cross the road?

Here’s Buddy chewing and climbing. He’s a 5 1/2-year-old chocolate lab and was born without half a leg.
“He enjoys feeding the chickens at home and hanging out with his owner Jim Rinderle,” Jim wrote.
Thanks for the photos, Jim.

Paws at 10 and 2
It’s important to be watchful of the road. Very important.

“Nothing can stop Dakota, a 7-year-old golden retriever and best friend of Phillip Linville of Grand Junction, from enjoying a road trip in the fall. Dakota rides shotgun on this trip and enjoys the fall colors of Mud Springs,” Phillip wrote.

Dakota looks so soft and furry in this photo, I want to pet my computer screen.
Thanks for the photos Phillip.

Chunk vs. The Peach
What peach? I definitely did NOT take a bite of that ripe and juicy peach on the ground (licks lips). I didn’t do it. I swear. It was the cat. Yep, yep the cat took a bite out of the peach. Blame the cat. Yeah that sounds like a great idea. I don’t even know what peaches are. I’m just a puppy. Look at my cute, wrinkled face. I can do no wrong.

Meet Chunk, an 8-week-old English Bulldog that lives with owners Ashley and David of Grand Junction.
“As the fruit season wears down, the newest addition to our family, Chunk, enjoys a peach at a local fruitstand. She also likes snacking on apples when she’s not sleeping!” wrote Chunk’s owners.

Sneaky, sneaky
Stoli and Luna are super sleuthing cats and can create a disguise good enough to fool even the smartest dogs. Call 1-800-CATSINDISGUISE for a free estimate.

The popular foliage collar.

Dogs might mistake you for a super hero. Also doubles as a Halloween costume.
“Stoli (gray kitty) is a 2-year-old cat who lives with her 3-year-old sister Luna (black and white kitty) and her family out in Rifle. Stoli loves to be outside (rescued from the Montrose animal shelter) and Luna is a true Southern belle (rescued from a shelter in Beaufort, S.C.),” wrote the sister kitties’ owner Jenn Reich.

Go Pup Racer Go!
I think chiweenies are going to take over the world … or, at least this blog.

Meet 2-year-old Komodina, who according to his owner Linda from Rifle, loves to go fourwheeling. This is a picture of him at the top of the Bookcliffs overlooking Rifle.

The many moods of Mandi
“This is Mandi, she has never been in a dog show, but she loves to model, just take out the camera. Unless she is not in the mood or a little shy that day, then she sticks her tongue out at you,” Mandi’s owner Philomena Chillino said.

Mandi is 1-years-old and lives in Fruita. Thanks for the photos, Philomena.

I wonder where the birds went?

“Dax, along with his brothers Spot and Q currently live in New Carrollton, MD. He gets a drink out of the bird bath while he waits for his mom Pat to sell the condo and move him and his brothers to his new house in Grand Junction,” Dax’s owner Pat wrote.
Thanks for the photo, Pat. Good luck selling your condo.

Chain Up Fundraiser
There’s a fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 4, in Sherwood Park near the south shelter, to benefit a dog rescue facility called Apollo’s Heaven. Proceeds will support a building site for Apollo’s Heaven in Grand Junction.
Volunteers will chain themselves to a dog house from 10 a.m. - 10 p.m., to raise awareness about the frustration dogs feel being chained up all day, according to a news release from Apollo’s Heaven.
Each volunteer will find sponsors to sponsor them for every hour they stay chained to the dog house. There will also be a silent auction.
“As avid dog lovers we were frustrated with the number of abused, neglected and unwanted dogs in the Grand Valley. Most of which are chained to a post or dog house all day and night,” according to the news release.
If you would like to help with the benefit, participate or sponsor someone, Apollo’s Heaven asks that you call or email Tiffany at 970-260-3398 or Apollosheaven@gmail.com.
For more information go to www.apollosheaven.com.

Poor Peanut just needed a break from her puppies. But alas, the disguise failed.

Sheesh, Peanut, I don’t know how you do it.
Those are seven healthy one week old puppies, according to Peanut’s owners Randy and Marian Brown.

Spoiled rotten kitty
Marley’s got “cattitude” according to his owner, Cherie Stephenson.

Maybe he’s mad because he didn’t get to go to Universal Studios like the person he’s sitting on.
“As you can see he takes his job as a lap kitty very seriously,” Stephenson wrote in her email.

Asleep on the job
The Daily Sentinel’s new mascot, Otis the teeny kitten, was supposed to help me with this blog today but he was …. yawn … too sleepy.

Wake up Otis, we have work to do around here! The blogs don’t just write themselves.
Kuddos to Cindy in advertising for having such a computer-savvy baby kitten and thank you Haute Mama Lynn for emailing the photo to me. I just about fell out of my chair this photo is so cute. Ri-di-cu-lous.
