Cheney to stop by Musgrave event

Vice President Dick Cheney will stop in Colorado Wednesday to appear at a reception for embattled Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave, R-Colo.

Anyone who has followed the state’s federal races has watched as the electoral winds moved the nonpartisan Cook Political Report to upgrade the race (in Democrats’ eyes or “downgrade” the race in GOP political observers’ eyes) to a toss-up contest.
Liberals have already tried to associate Musgrave with the unpopular Bush presidency. This event is sure to bring another round of such tactics.
Though Cheney will politick alongside Musgrave behind closed doors, her campaign advisers and staff have to be hoping that the money the vice president’s appearance brings in will outweigh any unfavorable associations Democrats can squeeze from the event.
Musgrave faces Democrat Betsy Markey this November.
