Making a list, asking voters: HD55 candidates talk transportation

Asked at a Monday night forum what Colorado can do to confront its transportation-funding shortfall, Republican House District 55 candidate Laura Bradford said policymakers should draw up a list.
Bradford told the dozens who showed up for a Fruita forum that Colorado needs “careful budgeting and prioritizing.” Specifically she said the state should draw up a list of 100 or so projects that urgently need to be dealt with and go down the list one by one.
“We can’t do them all at once,” Bradford said.
State Rep. Bernie Buescher, D-Grand Junction, said he thought the way the Colorado Transportation Commission prioritizes its projects is OK by him. (Buescher served on the panel for half a decade.)
“I would suggest that the transportation commission does a good job of prioritizing,” he said.
Buescher said long-term transportation funding likely will be an issue for the voters to confront in the near futures.
