Local ads join political fray on TV

One of Political Notebook’s readers might not like the recent deluge of political advertisements — Seriously, who does? — but there is something of a silver lining: You’re going to see some local ads mixed in with the state ones, according to Comcast’s political ad tracking Website.
Indeed, a second wave of ads from state Rep. Bernie Buescher, D-Grand Junction, have hit the cable airwaves, according to Comcast’s political advertising database. Buescher’s ads, which focus on his work he has done for various constituencies over the past four years, are scheduled to run on CNN, the Discovery Channel, ESPN, Fox News Channel, HGTV, Lifetime and TLC.
(If you can’t wait for one of the afore-mentioned ads to interrupt your sprint to the fridge for a soda or beer, you can watch them online on YouTube.)
Buescher’s opponent, Laura Bradford went off the air on cable on Sept. 4. Her relatively lower contribution totals probably have something to do with that.
Better Roads Now, which is supporting Amendment 52, and the committee to re-elect Mesa County Commissioner Craig Meis also are running ads now on cable.
Come to think of it, maybe all this is more like the lead lining of an ad avalanche. Either way, enjoy.
