Poll: Udall beating out Schaffer among key voting blocs

New polling out Friday shows Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Mark Udall has maintained his sizeable leads among a series of key demographics — woman, Hispanic and unaffiliated voters — lending to his consistent lead in recent surveys.
Among women voters, the new polls from the Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling, Udall leads Republican Bob Schaffer 51 percent to 37 percent.
Among Hispanic voters, Udall leads Schaffer 59 percent to 25 percent.
Among voters not registered as Democrat or Republican, Udall leads Schaffer 53 percent to 28 percent.
Another key component to Udall’s over lead in the polls is Schaffer’s inability to run away with senior citizens’ votes. According to the poll results, among voters 65 or older — who are very active voters — Schaffer is statistically tied with Udall, picking up 47 percent of their support compared to Udall’s 45 percent support.
Public Policy Polling surveyed 1,331 likely Colorado voters between Oct. 8 and Oct. 10. The poll has a margin or error of 2.7 percentage points.
