Bradford’s standing ovation

BradfordToastingElectionSuccess.jpg

Mesa County’s newest lawmaker-to-be, representative-elect Laura Bradford, R-Collbran, received something of a hero’s welcome this morning at the House Republicans caucus meeting — her first since toppling outgoing state Rep. Bernie Buescher, D-Grand Junction.

As my colleagues at The Rocky Mountain News reported: Bradford “received a standing ovation when she was introduced at the House GOP caucus.”

Did I miss something, or did they give a standing ovation to someone who just cost her constituents years of influence and institutional knowledge in the Capitol, so she could come to Denver to rail against potential bathroom dangers?

Perhaps what we saw in her election was a reaffirmation by the electorate that these offices belong to the people, and if the people choose to cut their nose off to spite their face then there is no one else to be blamed.

Who knows, maybe she’ll turn out to be the Jefferson Smith of our times…nahhhhhhh.

When I saw those pictures of her the night of the election, I was wondering if she had channeled Bill McKay) by calling Dick Wadhams and asking “What do we do now?”

Vill, you got the general idea right, but missed the bigger picture. That is, they gave a standing ovation to the person who will actually work for her constituents as opposed to the man she ousted, who was more concerned with Eastern Slope politics, unions, and gay rights. All of which seem to be contrary to the wants and needs of those he was supposed to be ‘representing’.

Vill:

As opposed to someone who uses his/her race to gain the highest office in the land in spite of corrupt connections, extremely questionable associations, Marxist comments, and a complete and total lack of experience?
