Report: Amendment 54 opponents prepare for legal challenge

Amendment 54, the “clean government” initiative, might have passed at the polls, but like Amendment 41 before it, opponents are lining up to challenge the constitutional mandate in court.
According to today’s Wall Street Journal: “Amendment 54 bans entities holding large no-bid government contracts from making campaign contributions. But the ban also extends to the entity’s officers, directors and trustees — and to those individuals’ relatives.

“The measure has roused an unusual coalition of big business, big labor and nonprofits to come together in opposition. Lawyers advising some of these groups say they expect a court challenge to be filed soon. ‘It may be a stampede to the courthouse,’ said Denver attorney Mark Grueskin, who advises some opponents.”
