Penry or McInnis for governor?

ScottMcInnisatPodiumWithHandUp.jpg

One of my colleagues at 5280’s blog has profiled a series of Republican politicos who might step up to take a shot at Gov. Bill Ritter in 2010. And, as you might have guessed from the headline, Senate Minority Leader Josh Penry, R-Grand Junction, and former Congressman Scott McInnis, R-Colo., are mentioned.

PenryMugSpeakingatMcirophoneArchivePic.jpg Here’s what the magazine’s blog had to say about why Penry might run: “Penry has long been talked about as candidate for governor in 2014, but if Ritter looks weak, he might move up his timetable by four years.”

On the matter of McInnis running the magazine said: “McInnis told The Denver Post last week he’s interested in facing Ritter. Many GOP centrists have urged him to run for office.”

We’ve polled what you thought of a Penry run and a McInnis run — which, for record, were two of our most popular polls — so let’s see what you think of them both in the same poll.

McGinnis needs to realize that sadly, his time has come and gone. I dont believe he can win any seat. He needs to step up and support the rising, younger generation Republican stars

As a young republican… enough is enough of the 50+ stereotypical republican candidates! Time for some young blood to stir things up! Go for it Josh!!!

I’ve already commented on this issue, but at the time McInnis was the only candidate. I agree either one will be a viable candidate to represent the republicans and the West Slope. But, I also believe that there is room and a definite need for young blood in the party and what a good place to start. We need representation from the Western Slope and Josh Penry is the guy to do it.

Gee, ya think those photos of Sen. Penry sharing the stage with a guy holding a swastika will be a positive or a negative if he runs for higher office?

McInnis has the best chance to beat Ritter in the General election. He has a more solid resume and stands a far better chance with independents and moderates, who tend to make or break elections.

Furthermore, McInnis already has a considerable amount of money in the bank and will be able to raise the funds to wage the espensive media campaign that will be needed to recapture the seat for Republicans.

Nope - none for me, thanks. Neither one has anything of substance to offer.

Scott McInnis is the best choice for the gov. race. Josh Penry needs more experience and time where he is at. Josh Penry has had many accomplishments that are definatley something to be proud of, however, he has nothing even comparable to the leadership and outstanding accomplishments that Scott McInnis has. Scott McInnis will be the agressive voice of the republicans that the state of Colorado needs!

Just think of the mountains that can be moved at the state capital with Josh Penry in the senate and Scott McInnis as Gov. I am a believer of great things. It is time to take Colorado back to it’s roots and get the chaos under control. BACK MCINNIS!!! He is the best choice for this race!

Let me understand. Penry, former aid to Congressman McInnis, who is suspect proposed that the then recently proclaimed Colorado Canyons Conservation Area be renamed McInnis Canyons in honor of the man that began campaining for Bush in ‘96 on the grounds of “Prisons from Fruita to Kansas State Line if thats what it takes” (to win the Drug War”) or the man himself that unabashedly accepted the name change while promoting corporate “Prisons for Profit”. Gee, how about they both “get lost”, or better yet, defeated while seeking higher office.

Boo Bo made a serious historical Boo Boo…..

Senator Penry left McInnis’ office well before Scott decided he wanted his legacy to be a pile of rocks and a few patches of sage brush.
