A Woman’s Fantasy

After listening to yet another weekend re-hash of Fantasy Football from the boys around the office, I started to think that there should be a version of this that the girls could get excited about. Something other than Fantasy Baseball, Basketball, Volleyball, or Synchronized Swimming. I still have a few kinks to work out, but I am in the midst of coming up with the next great game craze - “Fantasy Family.” It’s similar to the other Fantasy Teams in that you pick your players from a pool of contenders. You get to pick your husband, your kids, your parents, your in-laws, even your pets. I’ve been having lots of fun deciding who would be in the husband pool and what their scorecards would look like. For starters, we have Ken, as in Ken Doll. Among his good qualities are a haircut that stays put no matter what, a very hip wardrobe, six-pack abs, a groovy sports car, and he always does what Barbie tells him to do. On the down side, he doesn’t seem to have a steady job, he’s not very flexible and his knees creak when they bend. Then we have Uncle Bill from Family Affair, You remember - he raised Buffy and Jody and Sissy with the help of Mr. French, the butler. He’s handsome, thoughtful, is gainfully employed although we still don’t at what, and always wears a three-piece suit. Plus he’s smart enough to have a butler. Then again, you have to ask yourself who those kids really belong to and why does he let Buffy out of the house with those pig-tails? Also a contender is Pa, from Little House on the Prairie, or in the Big Woods. He can build a whole house with his bare hands, shoot wild animals and cook them for dinner, and at the end of the day take out his fiddle and get the party started! (Plus I think Michael Landon was sexy.) But, living in the woods or on the prairie with no electricity or running water is not too enticing. Can’t the man build a Little House on Park Avenue? Yep, the whole Fantasy Family idea needs fleshing out. I’ll be back with more contenders, but remember - you heard about it here first. Who’s your Fantasy Family husband?
