Another item crossed off my bucket list: Visit Black Canyon of the Gunnison

By Robin Dearing

In my quest to see all the cool stuff western Colorado has to offer, we decided to take an afternoon drive to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park a couple weekends ago. The fact that I can say we took an afternoon drive to a national park reminds me of how lucky I am to live where I do.

Since the park is just outside Montrose, we decided to have lunch at the Stone House on our way. If you live in Montrose or are going to Montrose or if you don't mind the hour-long drive for some awesome food, go to the Stone House. That place was awesome. My mom, Bill and I all had great, delicious meals. Honestly, I'd consider driving there just to eat there. Best French dip I've ever had. Yum-my!

We only spent a couple hours in the park, but it quickly became one of my favorite new places. I can't wait to go camp there. But don't take my word for it, check out these pictures:

.

If you live here and haven't been, take the drive. You won't be disappointed

It’s weird, only an hour away, but I’ve never been there either. I’m putting it on my list.

I know, huh. It’s crazy how many awesome places are so close to us.
