Another Western Colorado weekend

By Richie Ann Ashcraft

Wow, it's already Friday. This week was busy, busy and it flew by. That's fine with me because everyone knows I live for the weekend anyway.

Pretty much on any given weekend, we try to find some kind of family "adventure." Most of the time it's hiking, but sometimes it's swimming, or biking or, like last weekend, a little bit of fishing.

A long time ago, someone I knew said "Yeah, Richie will probably never leave Colorado." They meant it in a condescending, "She's such a hillybilly redneck" kind-of-way.

Alright, maybe I am, but I also know that there are people who pay big bucks to "vacation" in the lifestyle I live everyday. I vacation here every weekend and I love it.

I love it more since I've had three boys because we get to take them to places like this, and it's not even a big deal.

Yup, it may not be as glamorous as New York City, or Boston, or even L.A., but seriously, I wouldn't trade these summer weekends for the anything in the world.

That looks like an awful lot of fun to me!

People on the Front Range think there is no reason to come to the Western Slope. I’d like them to keep thinking that way. We live in paradise for all the reasons Richie says and more. Enjoy Ashcraft family!
