Getting ready for a long summer’s nap

By Robin Dearing

As Richie said, I've been M.I.A. She was right, I did put on some proper pants and have been on some adventures. What I've learned about adventures is that they are exhausting. But I can sleep when after my students' finals are graded, right?

What's been going on you ask? Here's a brief run down:

Margaret's band Possum Pants played for the last time a week ago Friday:

They aren't breaking up over creative differences or anything like that. Instead, their awesome teacher is getting ready to pack up and move to Denver. We are hoping someone will be able to take over his music studio and keep teaching these awesome kids how to rock and roll.

Over Memorial Day, my mom's family had a reunion in Denver to celebrate my Gramma's 90th birthday. We're a hearty group who know how to have a good time:

And that's not all of us. A few cousins and their families are missing.

Here's my Gramma with her six kids including my mom (center of the second row):

The Denver trip included a visit to Elitchs amusement park. Ever since our adventures in Mexico, Margaret has discovered her love for all things thrilling. She rode all the roller coasters and smiled about it for days.

Two days after getting back from Denver, Bill and I packed our bags for a weekend trip with friends to Las Vegas. There are no pictures because ... you know ... what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. But honestly, the wildest I got was drinking too much in the airport on our way home due to a delayed flight. I'll admit to being obnoxious on the plane ride. Thank goodness it was only an hour flight.

Now we're back in town and I'm ready to get into my-first-summer-off-once-my-exams-are-graded routine. I plan on doing a lot of pilates, figuring out what cardio I actually enjoy and taking pictures ... and not being obnxious on any more planes. I think I can do that.
