Gift Guide #2 Books

By Richie Ann Ashcraft

Books are always on my Christmas list. For the last couple of years, I've been buying books from the Scholastic sales forms the boys recieve at school. I just ask their teacher to hide the books and let me pick them up in the office. Scholastic is great because it sells paperback versions of some of the most popular books at very reasonable prices.  Plus, the school you purchase from gets a cut of the money. It's win-win Christmas shopping. Sholastic books are available online at www.scholastic.com.

This year, I ordered "Pete The Cat" for Jonas, a number of books about horses for Marek, and some kind of Star Wars collector's edtion box set that Soren absolutely BEEEEGGED me for.

I was also lucky enough to receive some sample copies of books addressed to the Haute Mamas.

This book is about Mrs. Claus having to fill-in for Santa on Christmas Eve. She has to check the list, trim the tree, bake the cookies and get all the reindeer ready so Santa can get out the door. It made me laugh because it reminds me of all the things that I have to do to get my boys ready everyday. Just getting out of the house is often exhausting.

I also liked the dedications that author's Susie Schick-Pierce, Jeannie Schick-Jacobowitz, Muffin Drake-Policastro, and illustrator, Wendy Wallin Malinow made to the strong women in their lives who made the holidays so bright. Not to sound feministic, but we truly do have our mothers to thank for our holiday memories.

This book is readily available at WalMart, Barnes and Noble Booksellers and Amazon.

"Find Me If You Can," by Bammco, LLC. is a personalized book that Marek is going to absolutely LOVE.

Authors Tom and Sue took Marek's happy little Halloween face and added it to page after page of other children's faces. It's a personalized "I Spy" type book.

And some of the pages are really quite challenging. Even my coworkers have enjoyed searching for Marek in the sea of faces.

Authors Tom and Sue have been married for 31 years and raised three boys. They spent 18 months developing the software to generate the book and now run their own business. They can use more than one picture, including entire families or soccer teams for the same price of $29.99 plus shipping.

To order your personalized book, visit www.bammco.net.

And for Soren, my military obsessed son, we have "Making Paper Airplanes," by David Woodroffe.

The stealth bomber, twister helicopter, juggler stunt flyer, and the Thunderclap Bomber are only a few of the nearly 100 preprinted planes that can be made from this book. It's going to keep Soren entertained for hours, plus, I was thinking that the planes are so colorful they would make a nice mobile for his room when he was done.

This book is also available at Barnes and Noble Booksellers, Amazon, and Ebay.

What a bunch of fun books! Marek’s personalized book is so cool. How fun for him!

Books are my favorite gift to give and receive. When it comes to my kids, I like the oft-quoted “something they want, something they need, something to wear, and something to read” guideline.

Soren would disagree about “something to wear.” He’s told me several times, “I don’t want none of those junky pajamas on Christmas Eve.” Ha ah!

Every parent should be proud of his children. A good way to show him that you love him is to make an age-appropriate gift, but not too often. Gifts are special because they are chosen carefully and they are made once or two a year. Adults prefer something symbolic or something that they can use, like the gift baskets charlotte, which often contain oils and food products.

It is very nice to be here because I am very interested in reading books so I like to send and receive books. I usually download books from torrent sites which is a very easy process to get your favorite books within a less time. Here is the amazing torrent sites list to get a lot of collection of books and music for free.

Extraordinary data! I as of late went over your online journal and have been perusing along. I thought I would leave my first remark. I don’t recognize what to say aside from that I have.    home page
