Happy Labor Day
Happy Labor Day to those of you who have it as a holiday and a simple happy Monday to those who do not.
I'm pseudo-celebrating in that while the university is in session today, I'm at home trying to get a lecture written. But — and this is a very big but — I didn't have to get up early this morning and get Margaret to school. Plus, she let me take her downtown for some shopping and lunch. And during that lunch, she played cards with me. More than a holiday, that is. It's a miracle.
My mom, Bill and I like to play cards while waiting for our food. Mar will never play cards with us. Why? She likes playing games, but she won't play because she hates losing. Sad, but true. She'd rather text her friends than ever play cards with us. So, it was an extra special occassion that she happily agreed to play cards with me. Guess what? She won ... and no, I didn't let her win. Ain't no fun in that.
Now, I'm back at my desk trying to work. There lectures aren't going to write themselves and apparently this kitten can't survive if she isn't lying on my arm trying to steal my pen:
Dali's face says, "It's a holiday. Don't you want to take a nap?" Evil streak in that kitten, I tell you.
So, happy whatever today is for you. Hope the rest of the week goes well, too.
