I’m a winner and so can you
By Robin Dearing
Remember back on Monday when I wrote about the uber-awesome Wired Originals earrings I received from my uber-husband for Valentine's Day?
Yeah? So I don't have to remind you about what a losery dork I am and about how I lost one of my earrings a week after getting it. Good.
By Tuesday, Cari had created a replacement and it happily sat dangling from my head, beautifully matched up with its sister earring.
So Tuesday started off as a good day that only got better when I went home for lunch. In the mail was not one, but two happy envelopes from the Lions Club.
You know the Lions Club — those earnest folks who raise money and then give it all away to wonderful causes across the valley.
I think the Lions Club is a great charity and I love supporting them every year. I buy raffle tickets, we go the parade and to the carnival. These folks work hard to make fundraising fun.
Well, this year my raffle tickets scored big time.
My name was drawn ... twice.
I was super excited — anyone that knows me, knows that I love winning stuff (I'm OK with not winning, but ... come on, winning is fun). But I did feel a little guilty and greedy as one prize was enough to make my day.
In honor of those lovely giving Lions, I'm going to turn my winnings around and giveaway one of my prizes to you, our dear Haute Mamas readers — actually to two of you. (And it feels just as good to win as it does to give it away.)
Here's the scoop:
I won two pairs of Grand Junction Symphony tickets (and not the nose-bleed seats, but the good ones).
In order to have your name included in a drawing for one pair of tickets for any concert in the 2008-2009 series, all you have to do is tell us a story.
Any story will do.
Tell us your birth story (I know Richie wants to read those). Tell us how you coped with being a teenager, how you coped with being the parent of a teenager. Share a story about how you give back to your community or about how your community came to your rescue.
We tell you stories all the time. Now it's your turn — and you can win great seats to see the symphony.
