Chris commented that I was remaining silent last week so I guess my absence didn't go unnoticed.
As I mentioned here I've been sick. I took the day off on Monday because I felt terrible. I lay in bed and watched Monsters Inc. Then I came to work on Tuesday suffering in not so silent hacking and coughing fashion. Don'tcha just love to sit right next to a loudly sick coworker?
The next morning I woke up with a crusty eyeball and noticed that both of Jonas' eyes were crusted over too. Ew. Nothing like waking up to crusty eyeballs. So, I headed to the doctor who diagnosed us with pink eye. A rapid Strep test was negative. I was sent home to spend another day feeling like hell. Because I'm still breastfeeding, even an over the counter cold medicine wasn't an option. I just had to suffer.
And since I can't see paying a babysitter to watch the boys when I'm home, I still made lunch and changed diapers and folded laundry.
I returned to work on Friday, still feeling and looking very sick. An early morning phone call from another doctor confirmed I indeed had strep. Thank goodness because I really felt terrible for only having a cold. I was sent home-AGAIN!
Of course, this didn't mean I could just go home and be sick. Oh No! It meant I had to take my sick self to the doctor another time to have both children tested for strep. It was nearly 4 p.m. by the time we made it back home with diagnoses and drugs.
We ended up with strep throat, a couple of ear infections, and pink eye, you know, because I have a family that just doesn't do anything at an underachiever level. The house is a mess. My family has survived the weekend on cold sandwiches and quesadillas. But, we're all finally on the mend, Knock on wood!
