Nobody cried, not even me
By Richie Ann Ashcraft

A big thanks to the Fruita Rotary Club and Elegant Images Photography that provided nearly free, (a donation of goods to the local food bank suggested,) pictures with Santa as part of the Fruita Hometown Christmas last weekend.
Soren and I practiced exactly what we were going to say to Santa. He shyly slinked up and sat on my knee. There was NO WAY Santa was allowed to touch him, not even a little bit. But once settled he grilled Santa like a seasoned reporter.
Are you going to bring me a Handy Manny toolbox? Did your elves make enough Barbie Dream Castles for Azure? How many cookies do you want? Do you know Rudolph? Does his nose light up and say BEEEP? Do you need to fix your chair so it can fly in the sky? Do you need some carrots? Will there be just stems left of carrots? Will you give me a candy cane? Do you like candy canes?
Of course, I usually had to repeat in English so that Santa could understand all that was being asked of him. Santa was able to reply that Soren needed to be a good boy from now until NEXT Christmas. He wants two cookies. His elves would certainly make a toolbox for him. And yes his sleigh flies.
I had to declare that we had taken up enough of Santa's time. Soren ran back twice, once to ring his jingle bells on his legs and another to shout: "Hey, and don't forget to bring Joji somethin!"
That, brought tears to my eyes as Joji was only able to say "dank dou" for his candy cane this year. What a sweet boy to remember his little brother.
