Olympic Moms
"I've raised an Olympian, wow, that's a powerful statement right there."
That's what Gabrielle Douglas' mom said to the television cameras after her child won a gold medal in gymnastics.
She raised an Olympian by letting her daughter move 3,000 miles to be trained. By letting go.
I don't know if I could do that.
Plus the money, the time, the committment an ordinary family would have to make in order for their little girls dream to come true.
Here's the video:

There are other Team Mom videos there too and I'd like to take the time to watch them all.
In the meantime, I give all the athlete's moms my utmost respect.

I know! So much respect for olympians and their families who sacrifice so much. I think it must be amazing to have a child achieve success on such a spectacular scale, but yeah, the idea of letting my kiddo move away ... that would be hard.
