What are YOU Reading?
By Lynn Lickers
I love reading during the winter time. I look forward to going to bed each night so I can read. I’ve read some pretty good books lately, especially a couple by Wally Lamb. One is She’s Come Undone and the other is I Know This Much is True. I thought both were great. In fact, I Know This Much is the best book I’ve read in years.
Then I read the One Book, One Mesa County selection for this year, Incredibly Loud and Extremely Close. I have to say I didn’t like it at first, but after a few chapters I fell into its rhythm. It's one of the most imaginative books I've read in a while. Look for more information on this book and various activities and discussion groups you can join, including a visit from author Jonathan Safran Foer, in the pages of The Daily Sentinel later this week.
Since I wanted to see what all the fuss was about with Stephenie Meyer Twilight series, I picked up the first one a few days ago. Oh my goodness. It is so painfully adolescent, so full of, “He looked at me with those liquid amber eyes and the room started spinning” high school angst I can totally see how the pre-teen and teenage crowd is gobbling up this series. Yikes.
It would be fun to start an on-line discussion of these books, or any others that you’ve read lately.
