Zippies
I was thinking about the light parade this morning and how much I look forward to taking the boys downtown for a little Christmas magic. The parade also always gets me in the holiday spirit. Thanksgiving is only two weeks away and I'm thus far just not feelin it. I need a parade.
As fun as they are, parades, and especially the light parade, are also situations in which I have a sense of imminent danger for my children. All motherly instincts point toward the worst possible outcome. It's dark, there's a huge crowd, and my children, until recently, didn't know their address or phone number.
In my paranoia, I would write their info on a index card and put it in their back pocket with instructions that if anything bad were to happen they were to give the card to either another mommy or a police officer.
Apparently this is not as crazy as it sounds and there are much cooler products out there to help with child identification.
Zippies, "the pals that hang around," are uber-cute ID tags that can be labeled with a child's name and phone number, then easily hooked to coats or other belongings.

These were sent to our Features editor this week who also has young children. We agreed there were many situations that could occur where a tag like this would at the very least help ease a paranoid motherly mind.
Zippies is offering a stocking stuffer special this holiday season. Buy five tags for $6.99 and receive five more free. Purchase 10 tags for $12.99 and receive 10 more free. Zippies are available at www.zippiesfun.com.
