Even More EDM

By David Goe

Piggy backing off of Melinda Mawdsley's EDM:101 article, here are even more references for those seeking to expand their music knowledge. Here are some of the best podcasts around, or at least the ones that I like the best.

  • Armin Van Buuren A State of Trance Podcast
Hands down, the world's number one DJ plays his favorite trance tracks and discusses all things dance. You can also stream the podcast on YouTube and on Spotify.
  • Annie Mac Radio Show BBC Radio 1
The queen of the UK dance scene plays music from all EDM genres. The show also includes interviews and five minute mini mixes from DJ superstars. Her Friday show often preceeds that of the legendary Pete Tong. Actually the whole Friday lineup is a pretty good resource for what's new in the scene. Tune in and get ready to dance.
  • The Boiler Room
This is the spot to be. The Boiler Room is an underground YouTube channel. It's great for streaming live DJ sets from more independent artists like James Murphy (formally of LCD Soundsystem), Thom Yorke (Radiohead), DJ Shadow and Jamie XX from the band the XX. Awesome resource. Here is a smooth, 35 minute set from Disclosure (they are like, totally blowing up right now). They play a more chill, groovy set. Check out their breakout hit "Latch."
