I've been out of town for a week and am just catching up. I note most immediately that the DEA and local authorities put ut the dragnet and hauled in 31 people on meth-related charges. Seems the investigation relies heavily on wiretapping at the beginning. Now I have to wonder if we can expect the local backwater beatnik brigade to march out complaining about the misuse of government power in these arrests. Unlikely, of course, not that the BBB is actually in favor of wiretaps, but hasn't the fortitude to be consistent. I see also that the state is wasting no time in making the courts less accessible to the people who pay for them. At least they aren't blaming it on a lack of money, just distrust of the public in general.
