Looking and lurking are two things I'm really good at right now when it comes to running.
Looking for reasons not to run, and lurking around inside while looking for reasons not to go.
I haven't run one step since the Winter Sun over two weeks ago. Unless you count running out Christmas shopping, running around doing holiday stuff, or just running around the office trying not to freeze (it's really cold in here some days).
I think my reasons are actually (in the world of making excuses) ...

I know, I know - where is the blog about how great the Winter Sun 10K was? Sorry - got side-tracked but here it is.
It was great! It was better than great! It was grrrrrrreat!
Hot Legs and her BF went down Friday evening to get acclimated, and the HTB and I drove down early Saturday morning. Julie was kind enough to pick up my race packet and all that stuff and the boys were kind enough to drive us to the starting line at the golf course. Which was much appreciated - because it was cold! ...

A mere 48 hours from now Hot Legs Norman and I will be lining up at the start of the Moab Winter Sun 10K. Along with 698 other lucky runners. Each runner will have their own story to tell about why and how they are where they are and what brought them to the starting line. Each runner always does.
I don’t know all of Hot Legs’ story but I do know that she has been extremely dedicated about training for this race. I have watched her grow from chugging out a couple of miles, to ...

Cold and beer should go together. As in "cold beer".
Sometimes they are separated however - like last night.
I dutifully ran my scheduled miles in the frigid cold evening. It was cold. I normally like running in the cold but it was almost painful for the first mile. I need to rethink my cold weather running wardrobe.
After I finished and came back to my relatively warm house I texted Hot Legs Norman and let her know how cold it was.
She sent me back this photo of how she spent the ...

Julie "Hot Legs" Norman and I ran a fun little race this past Saturday put on by the Mesa Monument Striders. It was a six-mile Turkey Prediction Run and was unique in that the most accurate, not the fastest, runner had a chance to win. You had to predict your time and the closest to their actual running time won turkey and fixin's compliments of City Market.
It started at Larry's house in Orchard Mesa and around 30 or 40 runners arrived on a beautiful sunny morning. The course wound ...

The title is not meant to be a commentary on what may or may not happen with the digestive track after indulging in a feast. But there are all kinds of runs, jogs, walks and races coming up in the next couple weeks. Take advantage of them so you can eat more pie. And mashed potatoes. And sweet potatoes, and gravy, and sausage stuffing, and rolls, and . . .

Dan and I had the good fortune to have a snowed-in weekend in Telluride. Fabulous place courtesy of one of his client friends (more on that later) and the bliss of being where nobody else was.
Almost two feet fell in the 48 hours we were there. It was perfect but made running a tad hazardous.
So I didn't.
We took walks through the whiteness and came back to this place:
And soaked in this hot tub big enough to fit a village from Uzbekhistan:
All that while thinking of the brave ...

Julie Norman, soon-to-be world famous first-time 5K'er granted The Daily Sentinel this EXCLUSIVE interview after her first and very successful Girls on the Run 5K last Saturday.
Julie and Lynn before the race began.
What made you decide to start running?
I wanted some type of aerobic winter activity that I could do fairly quickly, by streetlight, and during the week...I’m not a member of a gym and I don’t have room in my condo for a treadmill...so running seemed like a ...

That stands for "tips and advice", and now that I have your attention . . .
I received an interesting e-mail today from someone who is about to “get bibbed” in their first race this weekend, the Harbert Lumber Girls on the Run 5K.
The e-mail contained a few tips for running your first race. They included double knotting your shoe laces, don’t start out too fast and making sure you use the porta-potty before the race.
I thought all those tips were pretty good - but ...
