This comes from Luke Reece at Gateway Canyons. Sounds like it was a successful and fun day for all. Thanks Luke! If you were one of the runners in either the 5 mile or half-marathon let us hear from you and post a comment.
THANK YOU!
Striders and local runners,
Thank you for your support of our events here in Gateway and your overall support of running here in the Grand Valley! Perhaps some of the 'old timers' remember seeing the Reece Clan around some of the historic Striders ...

I’m headed to Durango this morning to referee a few girl’s lacrosse games. Yep - sprinting after a bunch of teenage girls up and down a 120 yard field at over 6,000 feet altitude. Shoot me now! If you’re around this Sunday a.m. join up with this group of fleet feet for this run sent in by Conrad:
Great weather.
Let's meet at Devil's Canyon trail head at 7 a.m.
I'd like to go out D5 and maybe catch the Flume trails and return. Conrad
And don’t forget these from the ...

When I’m training for a race (and I say that like I’ve been in hundreds of them or something - ha!) and I feel myself lagging or sagging, I try to give myself a good-talking to, sometimes out loud if I’m not gasping for air.
I’ve come up with a couple mantras, for lack of a better description, that keep me going.
The first one is, “I am not getting in that van.” This comes via co-worker and all around good-guy Robert Garcia. Robert rode over 400 miles ...

I have a soft spot in my heart for all things military-Veteran related. This honor flight program is one such special thing. If you can, come out and run, walk, skip or hop so our veterans can get the recognition they deserve by visiting the WWII memorial.

Thanks to Alison for letting us know about the upcoming Women on the Run season that kicks off today. It tags along with Girls on the Run - a wonderful program that teaches girls all the physical, social, emotional and often spiritual benefits of running. So ladies who are just getting started, or started again, on a running program - this is for you.

WOW! You guys are great - thank you for all the feedback already. We could be on to something here!
First things first - Lisa is the pizza winner. Go Lisa! And yes, you can have wine instead of beer with it. Although I’m curious what kind of wine one drinks with pizza. I guess it’s whatever kind you want, right?
Secondly - so sorry about the comment glitch which makes the comments not post right away. We’re working on getting that fixed. I have to check mark each ...

Are you a goal-setter?
Do you find yourself motivated by the prospect of an upcoming race for which you've paid good money? Or does the looming event stress you out?
When I was training for my first (and now apparently last) Rim Rock Run I pushed myself as best I knew how. I was very goal oriented, and did a pretty decent job of staying on track. But, I had a huge advantage (?) of having a story deadline and thus needing something to write about. It was easier to stay on track with that ...

Are you a Mesa Monument Strider? If not - you ought to join up! It's cheap and fun. From what I hear - so are some of the members. (I can say that - because I am one.) You can join up by calling Tom Ela - who sent the following message and his contact info is at the bottom. Or you can go to their Web site.
Hello runners,
Spring ahead! It's trail time. Thursday night run moves to dirt just in time to start preparing for the first trail race of the season, the Widowmaker Run coming up on ...
