Looking and Lurking
By Lynn Lickers
Looking and lurking are two things I'm really good at right now when it comes to running.
Looking for reasons not to run, and lurking around inside while looking for reasons not to go.
I haven't run one step since the Winter Sun over two weeks ago. Unless you count running out Christmas shopping, running around doing holiday stuff, or just running around the office trying not to freeze (it's really cold in here some days).
I think my reasons are actually (in the world of making excuses) pretty valid. I'll probably slip and break a leg on the roads right now although the ice has somewhat abated, and it's dark when I get up and dark when I get home. Dark and icy roads are not a good combo. And weekends I've spent, well, not running.
But yesterday I printed out my handy training schedule for the 10K in Fruita on February 20 so I'll get motivated. Luckily yesterday was a rest day. So I got that done! Progress!
Today calls for a 2 mile run which was sounding like a piece of cake until . . . I looked out my window just now and it's snowing!
So I'm lurking at my computer writing this post. And now that I have (and I promised Hot Legs I would) I'll go for that 2 miler when I get home.
In the dark.
In the snow.
On the icy road.
And I'll love it.
