We took a 16 day cruise across the Atlantic to get home. Because some of you love cruises and the culture that accompanies them, Ill be gracious. Let me just say that I learned that to some Americans the Golden Corral is as good as it gets. And, apparently "Margaritaville" has some kind of anthemic quality. Also, Im not sure what to make of a 55 year old man holding up his IPad to record no less than 20 minutes worth of an indoor "parade" in which the waitstaff donned clown apparel and ran in circles.
But, for cheaper than flying we were able to visit some of the most beautiful islands in the world and check one more continent (Africa) off our list. Corsica is a phenomenal French island and we enjoyed coastal Spain with its Roman ruins, but the Canary Islands were our favorite. Lanzarote is a neat volcanic island, but neighboring Tenerife was mind blowing-huge green mountains jutting from the turquoise sea with jungles, Utah-like deserts, and both black and white sand beaches all within 35 miles.
We ended by finding Nemo on a little snorkling trip in the Bahamas before touching our feet to the wonderful USA.
