Brown confirmed as DOLA head
Though he's been on the job for awhile, the Colorado Senate today officially confirmed Grand Junction resident Reeves Brown as executive director of the Colorado Department of Local Affairs.
For the past decade, Brown was head of Club 20, a governmental, business and civic group that represented 22 counties on the Western Slope.
Part of his new job is to oversee grants given to local communities from revenues from federal mineral leases and severance taxes, which oil and gas and mining companies pay based on what they pull out of the ground
At least for now, Brown plans to work a few days a week in Denver and other days at DOLA's office in Grand Junction. He chose to do that because he didn't want to uproot his children during the school year.
