A petty confetti complaint

By Debra Dobbins

I’m irked when I open a birthday card or a wedding or party announcement and confetti comes flying out. I don’t care if the confetti is colorful little dolphins or stars or whatever – it’s annoying. Confetti belongs in tickertape parades or at weddings, not in envelopes.

Even better is confetti, Italian style. Wikipedia notes that Italian confetti are almonds with a hard sugar coating and adds, “By tradition, the Italian confetti (sugar coated almonds) are given out at weddings and baptisms (white coating), or graduations (red coating), often wrapped in a small tulle bag to give as a favor to the guests.”

See, Italian confetti are not only yummy, but also come tastefully in little tulle bags. They do not scatter everywhere, only to be vacuumed up months later. Molto buono!
