Celebrate your Valentine at a local winery

On the Wine Trail:

Saturday (Feb. 11) is your chance to enjoy the Valentine's Day edition of the Wine, Buffalo and Chocolate Lover's Trail as it winds through Rogers Mesa near Hotchkiss, visiting Leroux Creek Vineyards, Liliputian Winery and the High Wire Ranch.

Winetasting, Yvon Gros' terrine, paté and chocolates and Leroux Creek Spa products at Leroux Creek Vineyards, 12388 3100 Rd.; wine and homemade truffles at Liliputian Winery, 31424 Colorado Highway 92 (next to Hardin's Foods); and sample the buffalo and elk meat and sausage at High Wire Ranch, 27497 Buffalo Rd., where you'll also get free ranch tours and the wines of Kevin Doyle of Woody Creek Cellars. Also celebrating a month of Valentine's Days is Carlson Vineyards on East Orchard Mesa, famed for its Cherry wine. This month's special is the Chocolate 'n Cherry Hearts featuring Enstrom's chocolate. Winery is open 10 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. daily. Information: 464-5554.
