End of season not scary at all for Garvin Mesa wineries
If you're ready to avoid the ghouls and goblins of Halloween for a few hours, take the easy drive to Garvin Mesa east of Paonia and enjoy some not-so-scary end of season deals from the four wineries there.
All four – Stone Cottage Cellars, Terror Creek Winery, Black Bridge Winery and Azura Cellars and Gallery – will be offering exceptional deals Saturday on wine, art and, at Stone Cottage Cellars, on chocolate.
Brent and Karen Helleckson of Stone Cottage Cellars are offering a free box of chocolates with every two-bottle purchase on Saturday.
The offer includes Internet and phone orders. A 10-percent discount is aplied to all case purchases. Hours 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Joan and John Mathewson at Terror Creek Winery also are offering deals on some of their delightful Alsatian-style wines. Winemaker Joan Mathewson produces one of Colorado's finest Pinot Noirs at the high-elevation winery. Hours 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Black Bridge Winery is hosting a pizza party from 3-6 p.m., with live entertainment and costumes optional but prizeworthy.
Azura Cellars and Gallery has a silent auction from 6-9 p.m. on some of the gallery's fine art. Wine and hors d'oeuvres available.
Garvin Mesa is about 1 mile east of Paonia on Colorado Highway 133. Look for signs for Stone Cottage, Azura and Terror Creek on the left side of the road.
Black Bridge Winery and Orchard Valley Farms is also about 1 mile east of Paonia and on the right side of the road, with plenty of signs advertising their presence.
