Mid-summer brings the best in food and wine, North Fork style
Mid-July is heating up and not just the temperature.
The North Fork Valley is flexing its presence as Colorado's vortex for fine local-grown foods and wines and it all starts Friday night (July 18) with Chef Dava Parr at Fresh and Wyld Farnhouse Inn and Gardens, stirring the pot with the much-awaited return of her Friday night dinners.
Gourmet meals made with (mostly) local organic and sustainably grown ingredients (rarely can you catch striped bass out of the North Fork River) available prix fixe or a la carte. Check the website or call (970-527-4374) or email Dava (firstname.lastname@example.org) for information about the dinners and for her Sunday morning farmhouse breakfasts.
Wine and Jazz at Leroux Creek Inn – On July 26, Yvon and Joanna Gros at Leroux Creek Vineyard will be hosting their delightful "Evening of Wine & Jazz," featuring Mike Gwynn and the North Fork Flyers.
Yvon will be working his culinary magic, serving exotic appetizers and followed with a Mediterranean paella and Tarte aux Peches. You can just listen to the music or enjoy dinner (5:30-7 p.m.) Tickets are $20 (music only, begins at 7 p.m.) and $35 (dinner, dessert and Leroux Creek wine).
Information at 872-4746 or online here. Reservations due July 24. Be sure to ask about the winemaker's dinner scheduled for Aug. 2.
West Elk Wine Trail – The West Elks Wine Trail is Aug. 1-3 and features a weekend of dinners, tastings and wine tours at 10 of Colorado's finest wineries in the North Fork Valley. Information here.
