A multi-day red flag warning is in effect for a large area covering western Colorado and eastern Utah, with gusty winds, hot temperatures, low humidity and dry fuels combining to boost fire danger this week. Rifle Gap State Park reopens to boaters

Rifle Gap State Park has joined Rifle Falls State Park and the Rifle Falls Fish Hatchery in reopening to the public following the Ward Gulch Fire, Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials announce this morning. Rifle Gap is open to boaters, although park officials say the swim beach located at the west end of the park remains closed to the public due to ongoing firefighting efforts. Gold for Colorado Capitol dome back from Italy

DENVER — The gold that will be used to replace the gilding on the state Capitol dome is back in Colorado after being transformed into gold leaf in Italy. Gov. John Hickenlooper is set to accept the gold during a ceremony Tuesday morning at the Capitol. DENVER — The survivors of a woman who died during the production of a reality TV show pilot have filed a wrongful death and negligence lawsuit against Discovery Communications Inc. and Anthropic Productions Corp. Xcel bills rising with price of natural gas

DENVER — Xcel Energy says gas and electricity bills are beginning to creep higher as the price of natural gas rises in Colorado. The average electricity bill for the 2013 summer quarter is projected to rise almost 6 percent to $76 a month when compared with the summer of 2012.
