15th oil spill due to flooding found near Greeley
DENVER — Another oil spill due to flooding has been found in northern Colorado.
State regulators said Wednesday that about 1,200 gallons of oil spilled from a PDC Energy location just east of Greeley. It’s the 15th oil spill detected and brings the total amount spilled to about 43,000 gallons. That’s about the amount held by 3 ½ storage tanks.
Inspectors have been checking drilling operations in the Wattenberg Field for two weeks but about 20 percent of the wells still must be inspected.
