3 fatally shot in SLC suburb; schools on lockdown

SALT LAKE CITY — Police say three people have been fatally shot and a fourth person critically wounded at a house in a Salt Lake City suburb.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Unified Police Department spokesman Justin Hoyal says the incident occurred at about 8:15 a.m. Tuesday in Midvale. Police are searching for the suspected shooter, who is at large.

As many as six nearby schools are in lockdown as a precaution. Canyons School District spokeswoman Jennifer Toomer-Cook says students are locked in classrooms and being kept away from windows at the schools.

Midvale is about 12 miles south of Salt Lake City.
