Artist Christo returning to Colorado

PUEBLO — World-renowned artist Christo is returning to Colorado this summer for two lectures about his latest projects.

Christo will talk about two works in progress, including Over the River planned for Southern Colorado and the Mastaba, a project planned for Abu Dhabi featuring 410,000 multicolored oil barrels stacked to form sparkling colors to highlight Islamic architecture.

According to the Pueblo Chieftain, no dates have been specified for the lectures in Snowmass Village and Aspen.

Over the River is expected to feature nearly 6 miles of silvery fabric panels suspended in sections along a 42-mile stretch of the Arkansas River between Salida and Canon City. That temporary two-week art project has been approved, but it is on hold pending outcome of a federal and state lawsuit filed by opponents.
