Aurora leaders reject pay raises

AURORA — The Aurora City Council is rejecting pay raises and a proposal that would give its mayor more power.

Last weekend, the council decided against asking voters to approve raises for the council and mayor. It also rejected a proposal to give Aurora Mayor Steve Hogan much more power instead of allowing the city manager to make most of the decisions on daily operations.

The Denver Post reports some council members believe the changes would allow Aurora to compete better with Denver on major projects.
