BLM releases draft resource management plan

The Colorado River Valley Field Office for the Bureau of Land Management recently released its draft Resource Management Plan for some 505,000 acres in Eagle, Garfield, Mesa, Pitkin, Routt and Rio Blanco counties.
The area involved does not include the Roan Plateau, which has a separate management plan.
The draft plan analyzes four alternatives detailing a wide range of possible management direction. Final plans are scheduled to be released in 2012.
The agency will host three public open houses to provide information and an opportunity to comment on the Colorado River Valley draft.
The meetings are set for 3-7 p.m. at the following locations: Silt, Thursday at the BLM Colorado River Valley Office; Eagle, Oct. 11; and Carbondale, Oct. 12.
Public comment on the draft will be accepted through Dec. 15.
