Body found in river that of Louisiana man

The Garfield County Coroner’s Office on Wednesday said the body retrieved from the Colorado River near Parachute last Friday was that of a Louisiana man who fell into the river three weeks earlier near No Name.

The Coroner’s Office identified the man as Taylor Chisholm, 20, of Covington, La.

Chisholm fell into the river near the No Name area June 2 while attempting to cross with two other people in a cable basket via pulley system, the Garfield County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release. The high river runoff contacted the bottom of the basket, tipped it and drug Taylor into the fast-moving current.

None of the occupants were wearing personal flotation devices, the Sheriff’s Department said.

A search and rescue team spent two days searching the river for Chisholm and suspended the search after that because of dangerous river conditions.
