Small plane makes emergency landing in north GJ field

What appears to be a single-seat experimental airplane registered to a Mesa County resident has landed in a field in a north Grand Junction neighborhood.

A tail number on the plane indicates the fixed wing single-engine plane is registered Whitewater resident Stephen K. Wood.

Witnesses at the scene about a half-mile north of H Road along 26 Road said that they believe the pilot walked away unharmed. An ambulance left the scene with no patients. The plane looks remarkably intact, witnesses report.
