College Football

• Grades good for Maverick football team

Ten Mesa State College football players made the RMAC All-Academic team, announced Wednesday.
Running back Bobby Coy (3.73 GPA in management), offensive lineman Trevor Wikre (3.45, physical education), defensive lineman Nic Pade (3.43, kinesiology) and linebacker Ryan Kadavy (3.32, business management) made the first team.
Quarterback Phil Vigil (3.50, sports management), linebacker Bennett Newton (3.27, kinesiology), defensive back Zay Lopez (3.38, undecided) and punter C.J. Smith (3.43, criminal justice) made the second team. Wide receiver Mitch Griffin (3.57, business administration) and defensive lineman Alberto Rodriguez (3.45, marketing) made the honor roll.

College Volleyball

• Edmiston heads RMAC All-Academic team

Palisade High School graduate Kaity Edmiston made the RMAC All-Academic first team in volleyball.
Edmiston, a junior at Colorado School of Mines, has a 3.68 GPA in civil engineering.
Four Mesa State players are on the team, including libero/defensive specialist Ashley Loftsgard, who made the second team. The senior from Granby has a 3.49 GPA in business.
Three Mavericks made the honor roll: Tessa Andrews, a junior outside hitter from Durango (3.62, criminal justice), Meagan Bosch, a redshirt freshman right-side hitter from Palisade (3.41, secondary education) and Sarah Hancock, a junior outside hitter from Littleton (3.91, English/education).
Two players from Grand Junction who play at Colorado Christian, Amanda Huskey, a senior libero (3.74, psychology) and Lynda Hughes, a junior outside hitter (3.95, liberal arts), made the honor roll.
