Broncos’ Dumervil injures chest, no timetable for return

ENGLEWOOD — Broncos coach Josh McDaniels says NFL sacks king Elvis Dumervil has an injury to the pectoral area of his chest and there is no timetable for his return.

McDaniels also said today the team is evaluating courses of treatment for the pass rusher and that surgery might be an option.

Dumervil was hurt at practice Wednesday night in a one-on-one passing drill and walked off the field clutching his right arm.

A person familiar with the injury to Dumervil told The Associated Press the converted linebacker has torn his pectoral muscle and could be sidelined up to five months.

McDaniels said receiver Kenny McKinley (knee) and safety Josh Barrett (shoulder) were placed on the injured reserve list Thursday.
