Buck regrets slam against tea party birthers

DENVER — Republican Senate candidate Ken Buck is apologizing for his remarks about tea party members who question President Obama’s birth certificate.

Outside a campaign stop in Crowley in June, Buck used a vulgarity in referring to so-called birthers. In an audio tape, Buck says he wants someone to tell those “dumba—-s” to stop asking him about birth certificates while he’s on camera.

Buck says he shouldn’t have used the word and shouldn’t have lumped tea partiers together. However, he says he was frustrated that the nation’s debt problems have been overshadowed by questions about Obama’s birth certificate.

The recording was secretly made by a Colorado Democratic Party worker assigned to tracking Buck and obtained by The Denver Post and KUSA-TV.
