Budget battle continues

Congress may have reached agreement on a two-month extension of payroll tax cuts for all workers late last week, but the next stage of the tax battle has already begun.

According to the Hill online magazine, Democrats are already prepping for a fight with Republicans over long-term unemployment benefits as Congress works to extend the payroll tax for a year. Other issues include an increase in the Medicare reimbursement for doctors.

It looks like the bimonthly budget showdowns that dominated Congress for most of this year are likely to continue in 2012.
