Central wins SWL wrestling title

Central High School swept all five of its duals Saturday to win the Southwestern League wrestling title at Grand Junction High School.

The Warriors needed a second tiebreaker criteria (wins by pins and/or forfeits) to defeat Grand Junction 35-34.

Central’s Isaiah Reyez defeated Alex Martinez 14-2 in the final match at 152 pounds to tie the dual 34-34. Central’s Oscar Ruiz was 5-0 and earned all-conference honors.

Grand Junction took second place and had six first-team all-conference wrestlers. They were Jacob Trujillo (126), Louis Guillen (132), Dylon Thompson (138), Gage Casey (160), Jessie Hoffschneider (170) and Dan Burns (220).
